Covers from real books

Why I don't post my clients' profile books.
The first is privacy. Adoption asks families to share some of the most personal parts of their lives: their path to parenthood, their home, their hopes for their child. I believe that belongs to the family it came from, not to a portfolio on my website. What my clients share with expectant families is theirs to share, on their terms, not mine to display as proof of my work.
The second reason is less obvious. A finished profile book looks simple. Clean pages, good photos, a few short stories, that's what you'd see on the surface. What you wouldn't see is everything that happened before a single page was designed: the conversation that found the right story to tell, the photos that got chosen over the ones that seemed obvious, the details that got left out on purpose. None of that shows up in the finished book. So when families see a sample, they see the result and miss the reasoning, and it's easy to walk away thinking the format is the whole thing. It isn't. I've watched talented, capable families copy a format they admired and end up with a book that looked fine and said nothing, because the part that actually matters never made it onto the page where they could see it.
So instead of showing you a book, I'd rather show you the process, and let the outcome speak for itself.
